About this opportunity

The University of Michigan African Studies Center offers a five-month residential research fellowship for early-career faculty currently teaching at an African university.

Responsibilities

  • Reside in Ann Arbor for the five-month fellowship and work on the approved research project.
  • Participate in the programme’s academic activities during the assigned August–December or January–May cohort.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Be an early-career faculty member currently teaching at an African university.
  • Submit a curriculum vitae and a research proposal of no more than five pages.
  • Provide institutional endorsement or the required support letter.
  • Applicants outside the directly listed African countries must be nominated by a University of Michigan faculty member with an existing relationship.
