About this role
GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps. This role leads a globally distributed engineering team working on Continuous Deployment — release orchestration, deployment automation and continuous delivery at scale.
Responsibilities
- - Build and manage a globally distributed engineering team, creating an environment where team members can do their best work and grow their careers.
- - Hire, onboard, and develop engineers, setting clear expectations for quality and accountability.
- - Partner with product management and cross-functional engineering teams to shape the roadmap, make sound architectural decisions, and deliver against product commitments.
- - Set expectations for reliable, secure, maintainable, and performant delivery, and help the team meet them.
- - Encourage the use of artificial intelligence as a core part of how the team works, with engineers using AI tools in their daily workflows.
Qualifications and requirements
- - Experience managing an engineering team, including advising on architecture and contributing to technical discussions.
- - Experience with distributed systems and durable workflow execution, including state persistence and replay patterns.
- - Experience building or managing teams working on release orchestration, deployment automation, or continuous delivery at scale.
- - Familiarity with Kubernetes deployment patterns and GitOps workflows, including progressive delivery strategies such as blue/green and canary deployments.
- - Experience with policy-based governance and event-driven architectures in reliable, enterprise-grade delivery systems.
