About this role
As a Transportation & Logistics AI Automation Engineer, you will support the implementation of AI and automation initiatives across multiple businesses, working closely with leadership, operational teams, and the existing IT department. This is a hands-on role combining AI implementation, workflow automation, systems integration, software development, and business process improvement. You will analyze existing workflows, connect platforms and data sources, build AI-powered automations, The ideal candidate can understand operational challenges, translate them into practical technical solutions, and determine when to use automation platforms versus custom-coded implementations.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy AI-powered automations that reduce manual work and improve operational efficiency.
- Develop workflows and AI agents capable of retrieving, processing, and acting on information across multiple business systems.
- Automate recurring reporting, data consolidation, and other time-intensive operational processes.
- Monitor existing automations and continuously improve their reliability, scalability, and effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to incorporate AI into established workflows where it can create measurable business value.
- Develop a strong understanding of existing software platforms, internal systems, workflows, and available data across the organization.
- Connect systems through APIs, webhooks, databases, and workflow automation platforms.
- Build integrations that allow data from multiple platforms to work together effectively.
- Improve access to timely and actionable information across different business units.
Qualifications and requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience in software development, systems integration, automation engineering, or a related technical field.
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying AI-powered automations and integrations in real business environments.
- 5 years of experience working with transportation and logistics systems.
- Experience working across multiple departments, systems, or business units is a plus.
- Has hands-on proficiency with Python and/or JavaScript and can use code to develop custom integrations or automation functionality when required.
- Demonstrates strong experience working with APIs, webhooks, databases, and system integrations to connect business applications and automate data flows.
- Has experience building workflows with n8n, Make, Zapier, or similar automation platforms and can determine when a low-code solution is appropriate versus custom development.
- Is comfortable integrating LLMs such as OpenAI, Claude, or comparable technologies into practical business workflows and applications.
- Understands AI agents, workflow automation, and data-processing concepts and can apply them to operational business problems.
- Has experience working with SQL and structured business data to retrieve, process, connect, and analyze information across systems.
