About this role
As a Senior Assigned Support Engineer, you will be a trusted technical advisor to GitLab’s largest customers, helping prevent disruption and maximize value across self-managed, Dedicated, and GitLab.com environments.
Responsibilities
- - Provide technical support to GitLab’s largest customers and help keep their environments stable and performant.
- - Troubleshoot complex, critical, and sensitive support issues through email and video conferencing.
- - Use Zendesk, logs, Linux utilities, and tools such as strace to investigate problems.
- - Build proactive relationships with customer stakeholders and prioritize technical blockers.
- - Collaborate with Product, Development, Infrastructure, Customer Success, and Sales on fixes and improvements.
- - Advise customers on GitLab and CI/CD implementations and incident mitigation.
- - Create and improve reusable support documentation and knowledge articles.
- - Participate in hiring and contribute to Support Engineering team growth.
Qualifications and requirements
- - Experience managing complex customer-facing technical support cases end to end.
- - Advanced troubleshooting skills across applications, infrastructure, and integrations.
- - Strong Linux systems administration and low-level debugging knowledge.
- - Practical experience with GitLab, source control, and CI/CD.
- - Ability to write clear support content, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
- - Familiarity with Ruby or Bash and model-view-controller frameworks.
- - Clear communication with technical and business stakeholders.
- - Familiarity with DevOps practices such as Kubernetes and serverless platforms.
