Job description
About this role
As a Product Designer at Supabase, you'll be a key member of our design team, crafting innovative and user-focused solutions for our open-source database platform. You'll collaborate closely with Product Engineers, Product Managers, Product Marketing Managers and other peer designers to take ideas from idea to completion, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience across all Supabase products. Your work will directly impact the developer community, making databases more accessible, powerful, and easy to use. You'll shape how developers experience Supabase at every touchpoint, driving clarity, usability, and craft across the entire product.
Responsibilities
- Aligning teams with working prototypes, user flows, or high-fidelity mockups, choosing the most effective communication method.
- Anticipating potential pitfalls ahead of time and improving usability to resolve them.
- Leading complex design challenges, with the ability to balance user needs, technical constraints, and business goals.
- Finding alignment with cross-functional teams, along with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Success Engineers, Sales, Product Engineers, Product Marketing Managers, and other stakeholders.
- Conducting or applying user research, gathering feedback, and using data to inform and validate design decisions.
- Contributing to the overall product ecosystem, ensuring consistency and scalability across a growing product surface. You’ll be solving multiple problems at once by creating product primitives that can be reused, extended, and combined in different contexts.
Qualifications and requirements
- Prototype and show ideas rather than talk about them.
- Prefer to collaboratively work with others that have different skill sets and possess different points of view.
- Are actively building things outside of work; side projects, personal experiments; you're curious and you ship.
- Can move fast without sacrificing craft. You balance quality with speed and know when good enough is good enough
- Have high standards for design quality and user experience.
- Can write code (with AI), and should be comfortable designing for a technical audience.
