About this role
Our client is a fast-growing consumer packaged goods (CPG) brand with a strong retail presence and an expanding direct-to-consumer e-commerce business. As the company continues to grow its online channel, they are building out their marketing team to strengthen customer retention, increase repeat purchases, and grow subscription revenue. The Retention Marketing Specialist (Email & SMS) will own the day-to-day execution and optimization of the brand’s email and SMS retention programs, with a primary focus on Klaviyo.
Responsibilities
- Manage and execute ongoing email marketing campaigns within Klaviyo.
- Audit, refine, and optimize existing lifecycle flows, including welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, win-back, and other retention-focused automations.
- Develop segmentation and testing strategies to improve engagement, conversion, and overall email performance.
- Support campaigns around product launches, promotions, subscriptions, and other key marketing initiatives.
- Own email execution end-to-end, including campaign setup, copy, basic design, testing, QA, and deployment.
- Analyze customer and campaign performance to identify opportunities to improve retention, repeat purchase rate, and customer lifetime value.
- Develop and recommend strategies to convert one-time purchasers into recurring subscribers.
- Use customer behavior and performance data to continuously improve lifecycle communications.
- Partner with the Senior Marketing Manager to translate broader marketing priorities into actionable retention initiatives.
- Monitor retention performance and recommend opportunities for continued testing and optimization.
- Support and optimize the brand’s existing Postscript SMS program.
Qualifications and requirements
- 3+ years of experience in email marketing, lifecycle marketing, retention marketing, or a similar e-commerce marketing role.
- Strong hands-on experience using Klaviyo.
- Experience managing and optimizing lifecycle flows, segmentation, campaigns, and retention initiatives.
- Experience owning email campaigns from setup through testing, QA, deployment, and performance analysis.
- Experience working with e-commerce or DTC brands is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Postscript or similar SMS marketing platforms is preferred.
- Experience supporting subscription-focused marketing initiatives is preferred.
- Experience supporting affiliate or influencer marketing initiatives is a plus.
- Strong understanding of email and customer lifecycle marketing best practices, with the ability to apply segmentation, testing, and behavioral data to improve retention performance.
- Ability to interpret marketing performance data and translate insights into practical recommendations that improve engagement, repeat purchases, subscriptions, and customer lifetime value.
- Strong copywriting skills with the ability to create clear, engaging, and brand-appropriate lifecycle communications.
