About this role

Welo Data (Welocalize) is hiring a British Sign Language Video Quality Specialist to work remotely in the United Kingdom. The employer is looking for individuals with British Sign Language and strong technical video knowledge, with a background and work experience in video editing. Type of employment: Contract. Project duration: 12 months with possible extension. Yearly salary: £31,850. Working schedule 08:30-17:00 or 09:00-17:30 UK Standard Time with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break, 40 hours per week, on a Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday shift.

Responsibilities

• Independently and audibly verify spoken dialogue against BSL signing content, which the employer states is a genuine and essential occupational requirement for this role.
• Troubleshoot video and system playback issues, and identify trends to propose short and long-term solutions.
• Respond quickly and decisively to issues in a high-volume, fast paced and changing environment.

Qualifications and requirements

• British Sign Language (this is a must).
• 2-4 years of experience working with digital video.
• A thorough working knowledge of common technical issues found in digital video and audio.
• Passion for digital video and knowledge of the film and TV industry.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid work authorization for the UK with no need for sponsorship.
• Desirable: knowledge of subscription video content services, intermediate to advanced spreadsheet knowledge, and professional proficiency in another language.
